Sony Compounds Mathare Woes with Win

Sony Sugar’s interim boss, Salim Babu, extended his unbeaten run since taking over at the club to six matches after Mathare United became the latest team to fall under their challenge.

The Slum Boys were beaten 2-1 at Awendo Green Stadium, Sunday afternoon, a result that lifted the sugar belt side to 12th on the log and only two points behind their conquered opponents.

Victor Ademba put the hosts ahead after 12 minutes, Mathare United failing to clear a dangerous ball inside their box.  David Mwangi drew his team level half way into the match, the full back punishing a defensive blunder of Sony’s making.

Ssekayombya winner

Ugandan import Andrew Ssekayombya scored the winner ten minutes before the final whistle as the Millers collected their third win since Babu took over at the club. The unbeaten boss has drawn three matches but is yet to taste defeat.

Stanley Okumbi’s side, winless in their last four, are looking behind them nervously as relegation-threatened teams close the gap.
