Top European Scouts to Grace the Champions Cup At Toyoyo

Kariobangi Sharks Under-20, Koth Biro All Stars, Acacoro, Eastleigh Youth, Liberty Under-20, Kriss Darlin All Stars and Roya Wanyama All Stars will on Friday 15 August participate in the Champions of Champions tournament to be held at the Camp Toyoyo in Jericho.

The grass root tournament is being sponsored by betting firm Odibet Kenya. Dubbed “Champions of Champions”, the tournament will be graced by three top European talent scouts and will bring together the top football teams in Nairobi and its environs to battle for top honours and prize money.

Former Harambee Stars coach Jacob Ghost Mulee says the youngsters will get an opportunity to showcase their talent and impress their suitors who will be watching from the stands.

‘We have had so many tournaments whereby the young lads play, win and then nothing happens thereafter.’

;We are giving them an opportunity to impress the scouts and who knows maybe one or two will get an opportunity to play in Europe,’

‘We will have scouts watching them and if any impresses then they will be invited for trials in some top sides in Europe,’ he said.

The scouts who are expected to attend the one day tournament have a strong connection with Kenya, having spotted former Inter Milan and Real Soceidad midfielder MacDonald Mariga, former FC Orebro forward Paul Oyuga and Bonaventure Maruti.

Odibet Country Manager Aggrey Sayi says apart from the tournament, they will seek to reach out to other areas in the country with the aim of helping nature talent among the youth.

‘We are excited to be associated with the Champions of Champions tournament which i believe will be opening doors for these youngsters.’

‘It is our policy to reach out to those at the grass root level and this is just one of the many activities we have done as Odibet,’

‘We have previously supported tournaments in places like Rongai, Meru and soon we are heading to Machakos,’he said.
