Uganda and Rwanda continued their preparations for the 2016 African Nations Championships (CHAN) by playing friendly matches against Gabon and DR Congo respectively.
The Uganda Cranes hosted Gabon at Njeru Technical Center, Jinja, in the first of the two team’s build up games. A tight affair saw the hosts take the lead through Erisa Ssekisambu in the 33rd minute. However, Ronald Ntsistgui leveled matters 7 minutes to the final whistle to ensure the duo shared spoils.
CHAN hosts, Rwanda, claimed a 1-0 win over DR Congo at Umuganda Stadium in Gisenyi, Jacques Tuyisenge scoring the solitary goal.
Zambia came from a goal behind in their 2-1 win over Angola. Cletus Chama drew the Chipolopolo level before Mwila Mphiri scored the winner. Ethiopia and Niger played to a one-all draw in Addis Ababa. Idrissa Halidou Garba gave the visitors an 8th minute lead before Gatoch Panom converted a penalty to give the Walia Antelopes the equalizer.
The final build-up matches will be played on Wednesday. The tournament will be held in Rwanda between 16 January and 7 February 2016.
