Wazito FC and Chemelil Sugar, both in the relegation equation, did themselves little favor in their quest to avoid the drop after settling for a barren stalemate in a game of premium chances at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos Monday (20) morning.
The duo’s first ever league meeting ended in a 3-1 home win for Chemelil back in April but there were no signs of such a scoreline being repeated.
Wazito went into the match at the back of a 3-1 win against relegation neighbours Thika United, while Chemelil had been narrowly edged 1-0 by champions in waiting Gor Mahia.
The first half presented better chances for both sides while the second interval ended without a shot on target from either side.
Wazito should have scored twice inside five minutes but both Pisca Muhando and Edwin Lavatsa failed to dink the ball past Richard Aimo whose blood was rushing him too quick off his line
A midfield battle ensured as the two sides went stride for stride at the expense of any goalmouth action.
The visitors registered their first effort on target after 35 minutes, no Zeka Wakoli sending a hard shot straight at Martin Musalia.
The keeper then fumbled Bernad Biko free-kick and was lucky to see the ball boil over for a corner which was dealt with as the half time whistle blew with scores even.
Neither Aimo or his opposite number Musalia had anything to do in the entire second half which was played in a huff and puff manner, the game ending barren.
Wazito remain second from bottom with 24 points with Chemelil four points to the good at position 15.
