Heroes Memorial: Ghana Trustees to Grace Tourney


Trustees of Ghana men’s hockey club will grace the 2nd edition of the Heroes Memorial Tournament which gets underway this Thursday evening at the City Park Stadium.

The West Africans is the only International team which will participate in the four day tournament that seeks to recognize people who made a mark in the sport.

In the draws which were released, women’s local champions Orange Telkom will launch their title defense against Development X11 on Saturday in the five team event that will be played on the round robin format.

Other teams include Orange Rovers, sliders and Karate.

The men’s category have attracted 12 teams that have been drawn in four pools.

Pool ‘A’ has Trustees of Ghana, Impala and Wazalendo Academy.

Pool ‘B’ will see Sikh Union come up against Thika Rovers and Wazalendo Youth.

Pool ‘C’ has Kenya College of Accountancy , Parkroad Badgers and Veterans XVIII and Pool ‘D’ has Wazalendo Hockey Club, Karate Axiom and Development XVII Boys.

On Thursday, Trustees of Ghana play Impala in the first match at 6pm as Sikh Union battle Wazalendo Youth in the second and final match of the day.

Winners in both Men and Women Competitions will take home Sh 50,000, runner up 30,000 and and 3rd Place will pocket 20,000.
